ITO BY OHAYŌ

THE THREAD THAT CONNECTS THE ARTWORK WITH ITS ORIGINAL NATURE: ORIGIN, MATERIAL AND PROCESS.

Ito is a publisher of material-based arts (material, piece, object), with its own web 2.0 platform and the capacity to provide blockchain solutions for the sector.

We believe that connection is one of the key factors in the value equation of a piece. A thread that begins in the territory, takes shape through the material, and is transformed by the artist’s practice into a piece or object. It builds a bridge between the nature of the material and the user who, in some way, completes the piece: recontextualising and interpreting it, and activating its evocative qualities.

At Ito we present proposals in which this capacity to connect, and the intangible heritage that each piece carries, become more visible. To achieve this, we give each piece an expanded dimension through its digital twin (tokenised) and through augmented information accessible directly from the piece itself, thanks to RFID or NFC technology. This reveals its origin, information about its processes and materials, its story and rationale, the certified signature of the artist or designer, and more.

A new generation of pieces that brings to light the web of intangibles we have always intuitively and emotionally associated with the work of any master, but which we now make legible, opening the relationship between user, piece and artist to a new complexity.

We start from the memory of forms stored in our collective imagination and explore ways of updating and giving new meaning to objects, pieces and artefacts that invite us to broaden our visual and perceptual universe. A dimension that questions existing models of relationship and ownership, of participation, contact and appreciation, seeking to nurture others that are better attuned to the new contexts emerging around us, contexts that often seem to overwhelm us.

We foster a safe public space for encounter and exchange between different people, a place from which to reveal the value of what is born in the master’s workshop, its original nature and its potential to transcend.

With Ito, Ohayō aims to provide blockchain solutions for the sector, such as:

  • A blockchain-based marketplace through a dedicated room on the IDOBJECT platform (web 3.0), with crowdfunding options and a pre-purchase system.
  • Certification for material-based arts through tokenisation, or the creation of a digital pair or twin for art and craft pieces, mainly using RFID technology. A way to guarantee authenticity, originality and experimentation in the face of copies.
  • Definition and design of specialised digital models for the arts, as a preliminary step to commissioning and developing a specific smart contract.
  • Design and implementation of blockchain systems for the documentation and conservation of heritage.
